Waterloo Regional Police Charge Driver after Hit-and-Run Incident in Kitchener

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have charged a driver after investigating an assault in Kitchener.

On September 21, 2022, at approximately 4:45 pm, police responded to the area of ​​Keewatin Avenue and Georgian Street following reports of a hit-and-run incident involving the driver of a gray Toyota sedan.

Upon arrival, officers located a female victim who had sustained minor physical injuries after the driver of the sedan collided with her while attempting to leave the scene prior to police arrival.

As a result of this investigation, police located and charged a 51-year-old Kitchener male with several offenses, including:

  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • Fail to remain at the scene of a collision
  • Assault with a weapon

During the incident, the male is alleged to have uttered racial slurs. Investigators believe this incident was motivated by hate.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on October 28, 2022.
