Panther volleyball lands four picks for Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, Ind. – College Sports Communicators, which was previously known as CoSIDA, announced its 2022 Academic All-District Women’s Volleyball Teams with Tyler Alden, Kira Fallert, Inga Rottoand Carly Spies chosen from the UNI Panthers ahead of their Missouri Valley Conference Volleyball Championship semifinal match against the Evansville Purple Aces.

Nomination criteria include a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or better, sophomore standing or higher both academically and athletically, and a key role in the lineup with participation in at least half of all scheduled team competitions. All persons who garner Academic All-District recognition are eligible for Academic All-America honors.


Alden holds a 3.82 grade point average and is majoring in accounting. She is also a 2021-22 MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award winner and a two-time member of the MVC Honor Roll. Alden was recently named the MVC Setter of the Year and is in her third Panther season at setter.


Fallert has a grade point average of 4.00 and a major in biology with a biomedical emphasis. The true sophomore was a member of the 2021-22 MVC Honor Roll. Plus, she received 2021 MVC All-Freshman Team accolades in the first of now back-to-back years as a six-rotation outside hitter.


Rotto owns a 3.97 grade point average and majors in both mathematics and economics featuring an emphasis in quantitative techniques. Her previous merits include the 2021-22 MVC Presidents’ Council Academic Award and four MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award nods along with the fifth-year middle blocker’s selection to the All-MVC First Team for the first time in 2022.


Spies currently sits with a grade point average of 3.86 while majoring in communication disorders and gerontology. She is in her fifth season at middle blocker for UNI and was also a 2021-22 MVC Presidents’ Council Academic Award honoree and four-time MVC Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award choice in addition to her first-ever placement on the All-MVC First Team earlier this month.
