NBA injury report, March 23: Updates for LeBron James, Karl-Anthony Towns, De’Aaron Fox, Jimmy Butler, more

It’s a loaded Wednesday in the NBA with 11 games on tap, including a doubleheader on ESPN featuring Nets-Grizzlies and 76ers-Lakers. Here’s the injury report for Wednesday’s games in the association, along with the relevant fantasy and betting implications.

NBA Injury Report: March 23

New York Knicks vs. Charlotte Hornets

Julius Randle (calf) OUT
Mitchell Robinson (back) OUT

Update – Randle and Robinson are both out Wednesday, which means Gibson is elevated in fantasy / DFS formats. He’ll likely get the start along with Toppin.

Update – Randle is doubtful to play, so it’s going to be Toppin and Gibson again most likely for the Knicks at the four spot.

Randle sat out Tuesday’s game, so we’ll see if he’s good to play. If not, look for Obi Toppin and Taj Gibson to get big minutes at the power forward spot again.

Atlanta Hawks vs. Detroit Pistons

Bogdan Bogdanovic (quad) available
Danilo Gallinari (Achilles) OUT

Update – Bogdanovic will play and should be a nice value option after his 32-point outing against the Knicks Tuesday. Huerter and Hunter remain strong plays, especially since Gallinari is out.

Update – Bogdanovic is questionable, while Gallinari has been ruled out. Kevin Huerter and De’Andre Hunter are looking like nice value plays for Wednesday’s slate.

Bogdanovic played Tuesday, but the Hawks may opt to rest him against a lesser team. If he sits, Kevin Huerter and Danilo Gallinari will see additional value in fantasy / DFS lineups.

Sacramento Kings vs. Indiana Pacers

De’Aaron Fox (hand) OUT

Update – Fox, who was unlikely to play, has been ruled out. That means Mitchell and DiVincenzo are good to add to fantasy / DFS lineups as depth plays.

Fox is doubtful, so Davion Mitchell seems to be in line for major ball-handling duties against the Pacers. He’s a nice value add, as is Donte DiVincenzo.

Tyrese Haliburton (back) available
Chris Duarte (toe) OUT
Isaiah Jackson (concussion) available
Malcolm Brogdon (rest) OUT

Update – Haliburton is in and should be a great play with Brogdon out. Jackson is also in, while Duarte is out for Wednesday’s game.

Update – Brogdon has been ruled out, which would mean more minutes for Haliburton at the point guard spot if he does suit up.

Haliburton would love to play in this game against his old team, but he’s questionable. If this trio is ruled out, look for Buddy Hield, Malcolm Brogdon and Goga Bitadze to get more minutes.

Utah Jazz vs. Boston Celtics

Bojan Bogdanovic (calf) OUT

Bogdanovic has been ruled out again, opening up more minutes for Jordan Clarkson and Royce O’Neale on the perimeter.

Marcus Smart (illness) available
Robert Williams (knee) available

Update – As expected, Smart and Williams are in for the Celtics.

Both Smart and Williams are probable, so that’ll cap the upside of Derrick White and Al Horford in fantasy / DFS formats.

Golden State Warriors vs. Miami Heat

Klay Thompson (load management) OUT
Andrew Wiggins (load management) available
Draymond Green (load management) OUT
Otto Porter Jr. (load management) OUT

Update – Wiggins is listed as available, so he’s going to be the primary offensive player for Golden State along with Jordan Poole. Both guys are nice adds in fantasy / DFS lineups Wednesday.

Update – Thompson and Green have been ruled out due to injury management, so the Warriors are taking it easy after a game Tuesday. We’ll see if Wiggins plays, but Otto Porter Jr. is also out. Jonathan Kuminga is looking like a must-add to the DFS lineup Wednesday night.

Head coach Steve Kerr hinted at the possibility of resting some players on the second night of a back-to-back set. Thompson is the most likely to sit, while Green could also use a night off. We’ll see exactly what happens here, but Jordan Poole, Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody are nice options to pick up.

Tyler Herro (unknown) OUT
Victor Oladipo (back) available
Jimmy Butler (ankle) available
Caleb Martin (knee) available
Gabe Vincent (toe) OUT

Update – Butler is officially in the lineup and will start for the Heat against the Warriors Wednesday.

Update – Herro is out, but the rest of Miami’s rotation looks to be good. Butler is a fantasy / DFS star, while Robinson likely remains a nice secondary player with Herro out.

The entire Heat rotation is also banged up. Kyle Lowry is a great add with Vincent out, while Duncan Robinson and PJ Tucker could be the team’s best wing players by default. Max Strus is a must-add in fantasy / DFS lineups for this game, even if a few of these guys end up playing.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Memphis Grizzlies

Seth Curry (ankle) OUT
Goran Dragic (knee) OUT

Update – Curry has been ruled out, opening up more minutes for Mills and Thomas as the secondary guard for Brooklyn. Dragic is also out, meaning heavy minutes for Irving.

With Curry questionable and Dragic likely out, Patty Mills and Kyrie Irving are the primary backcourt options for the Nets. Cam Thomas should also get some run for Brooklyn in this game.

Ja Morant (knee) OUT

Morant has been ruled out again with the knee injury. This is starting to hit concerning levels for the Grizzlies and their fans. For fantasy / DFS purposes, Tyus Jones, De’Anthony Melton and Desmond Bane should absorb Morant’s minutes.

Phoenix Suns vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

Cameron Johnson (quad) OUT
Jae Crowder (ankle) available

Johnson remains out, but Crowder is back. He and Mikal Bridges will see additional value once again.

Karl-Anthony Towns (arm) available

Update – Towns is available and will start for the Timberwolves Wednesday.

Towns is questionable and if he doesn’t play, look for the Timberwolves to use Jarrett Vanderbilt and Naz Reid in the frontcourt more.

Orlando Magic vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

Wendell Carter Jr. (wrist, ankle) OUT
Gary Harris (knee) available

Update – Harris is in, so he’s a nice value add for a Magic team feeling good after a nice win Tuesday over the Warriors.

Update – Carter Jr. has been ruled out, opening up minutes for Moritz Wagner and Mo Bamba on the interior for the Magic.

The Magic got a nice win Tuesday and could be resting some of their guys on the second night of the back-to-back set. We’ll see exactly who is available for Orlando before making any fantasy / DFS proclamations.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (ankle) OUT

Update – The Thunder star is out, so look for Mann to have more upside in this contest against Orlando.

Gilgeous-Alexander has been playing through this injury but if he can’t go, look for Tre Mann to be a nice value addition against a team coming off a game Tuesday.

Houston Rockets vs. Dallas Mavericks

Luka Doncic (ankle) OUT
Davis Bertans (knee) OUT

Doncic and Bertans are out for the Mavericks, elevating Jalen Brunson, Trey Burke, Dorian Finney-Smith and Maxi Kleber as value plays in fantasy / DFS lineups.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Los Angeles Lakers

Joel Embiid (back) available

Embiid is available and should have another dominant game against the Lakers, especially with Anthony Davis still out.

LeBron James (knee) OUT
Talen Horton-Tucker (ankle) questionable

Update – In a shocking twist, James has been ruled out for Wednesday’s contest against the 76ers. It’ll be Russell Westbrook leading the Lakers, which is a tough pill to swallow for a lot of fans.

James should play, and Horton-Tucker is likely to play. If either guy doesn’t go, look for Malik Monk, Carmelo Anthony and Stanley Johnson to get extended minutes.

San Antonio Spurs vs. Portland Trail Blazers

Lonnie Walker (back) OUT
Romeo Langford (hamstring) OUT

With Walker and Langford out, Keldon Johnson and Josh Primo are in line for bigger roles against a bad Portland team.

Josh Hart (knee) OUT

Hart is out, but there’s few players on this Trail Blazers team worth rostering outside of Anfernee Simons.
