SELECTION: Abbie Roscoe has been selected for the Swim England Distance Initiative Programme
Prescot had a huge presence at the Rotherham Metro Short Course Graded Meet on Saturday and returned home with tremendous success.
In the A Grade, Nicole Farley won four gold, two silver and a bronze, in addition to obtaining a “Speeding Ticket” in the 50m Breaststroke. Thomas Ball posted several Personal Bests as he picked up six gold medals in the A Grade and two golds in the B Grade.
Jessica Ball, Samuel Lutas and Sophie Barr also posted several successes in the A Grade as did Elora Dawson, with Jessica Jones picking up a bronze medal in the 200m Freestyle.
Jack Benyon, Ava Gibson and Jacob Lupton set several Personal Bests in the B Grade resulting in a number of medals. Chloe Jones took gold in the B Grade 100m Breaststroke and silver in the A Grade 50m Breaststroke, while Andrew Clavis posted several PB’s.
It was a good day for the club’s up and coming swimmers with Ben Hyde, Finley Swift, Ella Hewitt, Harry Anders, Isabella Dyer, Jocelyn Williams and Lauren Watkins all setting a number of Personal Bests.
At the Salthouse Dock on a very pleasant Saturday morning, the Liverpool Openwater Ivan Percival Autumn Meet was almost a replica of the Spring Meet with Eliza Radclyffe winning the 1 mile skins event and Freya Doran winning the 1 mile wetsuit competition with Winsford’s Andy Bolton winning the 2 miles skins event.
It’s congratulations to a trio of Wirral Metro swimmers. Abbie Roscoe has been selected for the Swim England Distance Initiative Programme, Petra Varga has earned a place on the Swim England National Talent Programme, while Lauren Berry will be taking part in the Swim England North West Regional Development Programme. The club has also been shortlisted for the “Club of the Year” at the upcoming Wirral Sports Awards.
