The doubles partnerships of Martin County’s Dylan and Jaden deWindt and Okeechobee’s Bellana Schlosser and Isabella Derigo both advanced to the 3A state semifinals at the FHSAA State Tennis Championship.
Both pairs were to play at 11 am on Apr. 26 to try advance to the state final in their respective brackets.
The deWindt brothers defeated McKay Shafer and Will Bowers from Edgewater 6-0, 6-3 in their quarterfinal.
Scholsser and Derigo had to play two matches, first defeating Ivanna Chavarro and Kay Gutierrez from Spoto 6-3, 6-4 in the round of 16 and knocked off Ava Epps and Haley Hinkle of New Smyrna Beach 6-1, 6-3 in the quarterfinals.
Dylan deWindt was knocked out in the singles bracket in round of 16 to Mitchell’s Leo Alexeyev in a third set tiebreaker, 7-6, 6-0, 10-7.
Scholsser was also eliminated in singles, losing in the quarterfinals to Chavarro 6-1, 6-2.
In 1A, Master’s Academy’s Ryan Powell lost his quarterfinal match to Christ Church’s Chase Healey 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles competition, St. Edward’s pair of Jake Damiani and Justin Hall were eliminated by Gabriel and Sebastian Roane from Florida High 7-5, 6-2.
Jensen Beach 58, Pahokee 0: Julia Thurlow caught two touchdowns, ran for another and took a punt return 48 yards for a touchdown to lead the Falcons (13-3) to a win in a District 12-1A quarterfinal win. Courtney Cromer threw four touchdown passes with Bella Faherty and Vivian Alcalde each catching one, Lauren Duke had a touchdown run and took an interception back for a score, Deanna Allen also took an interception back for a touchdown and Paige Bressman added two interceptions for Jensen Beach , who will play Oxbridge Academy on Apr. 26.
John Carroll Catholic 13, Sebring 12: The fifth-seeded Rams (3-9) will take on top-seeded Lincoln Park Academy in a District 11-1A semifinal on Apr. 27.
Martin County 34, South Fork 6: The top-seeded Tigers (13-1) will take on Fort Pierce Central in a District 10-2A semifinal on Apr. 26.
Fort Pierce Westwood 21, Treasure Coast 0: The second-seeded Panthers (10-2) will take on Centennial in a District 10-2A semifinal on Apr. 26.
Centennial 32, Vero Beach 6: The third-seeded Eagles (10-5) will take on second seed Fort Pierce Westwood in a District 10-2A semifinal on Apr. 26.
Fort Pierce Central 12, Jupiter 0: The fifth-seeded Cobras (11-5) will take on top seed Martin County in a District 10-2A semifinal on Apr. 26.
Okeechobee 27, Lake Placid 0: The second-seeded Brahmans (8-6) will take on Gateway on Apr. 27 in a District 11-1A semifinal.

Sebastian River 13, Bayside 2: Christian Snow went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Calvin Junek had a double and two RBI to lead the way for the Sharks (9-11-1). Four pitchers combined to strike out seven with Connor Nightingale striking out four and Nightingale added two hits at the plate for Sebastian River.
South Fork 10, Martin County 6: Taylor Beurrier went 3-for-4 with two doubles and drove in four runs to lead the Bulldogs (9-4) to victory. Ashley Anderson went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI, Abbey Moore had two hits and Katie Kidwell hit a home run at the plate and allowed one earned run in six innings for South Fork.
Bayli Legg went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI, Mary Polak had a hit and two RBI and Amelia Hannah had two hits for Martin County.
Vero Beach 6, Jupiter 1: Dayna Patten struck out six and allowed two hits in a complete game and Vero Beach’s offense put up all six runs in the fifth inning on their way to victory. Cheyenne Roberts had a double and two RBI, Justice McKinney had a double and an RBI and Jasmynn McKinney and Emma Youngblood each had a hit and an RBI for Vero Beach
