Man Utd’s new boss instructed to replace summer signing because he isn’t ‘quick enough’

Manchester United have endured a dreadful season and are set to appoint a new manager in the summer, with the next boss already being told where to start their overhaul

One of Manchester United’s summer signings has been blasted for being too slow

Manchester United’s new manager has been instructed to replace summer signing Jadon Sancho because he ‘isn’t quick enough’.

Sancho only arrived at Old Trafford in last summer transfer window, after a long chase from the Red Devils. United paid more than £ 70million to bring the winger to the Premier League, following a series of impressive seasons at Borussia Dortmund.

But it has not been the debut campaign the England international would have been hoping for. Sancho has registered just five goals and three assists in all competitions in a United shirt, in what has been a dreadful campaign for the Premier League giants.

They have already been knocked out of the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Champions League, as well as being likely to miss out on a top four spot. Their poor performances saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sacked in November, with a new manager to be appointed this summer.

And former England international Trevor Sinclair has urged whoever gets the job to move Sancho on after just a season at Old Trafford. Sinclair also believes that United should get rid of Paul Pogba, Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and David de Gea if they are to turn their fortunes around.

“It doesn’t matter what manager comes in to Manchester United next if they don’t get their eggs in a row properly and put the people in place that they need to. Director of football, philosophy, recruitment, manager, and in that order, “Sinclair told talkSPORT.

HAVE YOUR SAY! Should Manchester United look to replace Jadon Sancho? Comment below.

“[Otherwise] they’re just going to end up with a mismatch of players. You look through the side – you’ve got [Paul] Pogba who’s ready to go. Sancho’s come in as a winger – he can’t beat a player, not quick enough.

“You’ve got Varane, for me the jury’s still out on him. You’ve got Ronaldo, can’t press, so why are you bringing him into the football club in the first place? I said this last summer. He will score a lot of goals but will Manchester United be successful?

“I don’t think so. Because I don’t think that’s what they needed. Even De Gea, if you’re going to start with the backline, start with De Gea. He’s not good enough with his feet. If you want to play through the lines and play the modern football that all the top teams are playing, De Gea is not good enough with his feet. “

The man expected to be making those decisions about Sancho, Pogba, Varane and De Gea appears to be Erik ten Hag. According to ESPN, United have settled on the Ajax boss as their preferred candidate, having interviewed him last month.

Ten Hag has impressed with the Dutch giants since taking over five years ago, leading them to two Eredivise and KNVB Cup doubles. He is said to be ready to depart the Johan Cruyff Arena, with United selecting him as the man to bring success back to Old Trafford.
