Rescuers from Kidlington Fire Station used apples to encourage Jake along the canal to a spot around 50 meters away, where he could safely exit the water.

After coaxing Jake out of the water, the horse returned to his field no worse for wear.

A video shared by the fire service showed Jake getting out of the water, as a crowd of onlookers cheered for his safe rescue.
