Greenwich Country Club to consolidate 6-acre parcel, mansion

GREENWICH — A master plan from the administration of the Greenwich Country Club will determine what will be done with a recently acquired nearby parcel of land on Doubling Road.

At a meeting and review at the Planning and Zoning Commission on Tuesday, the attorney representing the club, Bruce Cohen told the commissioners about the club’s acquisition of the property.

“When this parcel came onto the market, the club decided to buy it,” Cohen said. The acquisition of the parcel, which is located on the northwest corner of the club’s property, was a “strategic” one, he said.

A master plan for the future of the Greenwich Country Club and its facilities is in the works, Cohen told the P&Z Commission, and said that the planning guide will determine how the new property will be used. In the meantime, he said, the home located on the parcel will continue to be used as a residence, on a rental basis.
