SINCLAIRVILLE – “Into The Woods” will be brought to life on the stage by the students of Cassadaga Valley Central School Drama Club for their annual musical.

It is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales in a musical format that follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel – all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife , their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch who has put a curse on them.

The show is co-directed by CVCS music faculty members Nicole Zenns and John Cole, along with production from CVCS technology faculty member Reggie Cole. Senior Grace Zahm is the choreographer.

“This show has been a dream of mine for several years, and with our large group of experienced seniors, this was the year for us to finally do it,” said Zenns. “We have such a strong group, and they have been very professional in putting this very complicated show all together.”

Zenns was also in charge of designing, acquiring, and sewing the costumes this year.

“This has been an exciting year for the stage crew,” said Reggie Cole. “The students have been working very hard getting the set pieces built and painted. Being back in school full time has given us the opportunity to work much faster than last year. We are very excited to have an audience attend the performance this year. “

John Cole stated that the Drama Club has received much support from the CVCS administration and school board throughout the process presenting “Into The Woods.” “We are so thankful to be putting on a show for a live audience this year and are incredibly proud of the students involved in both the cast and crew,” he said.

Zahm said she is enjoying her experience. “It’s been fun to work with this community for so long, and to gain experience choreographing with a group that I really like,” she said.

“Into The Woods” is being presented on Friday and Saturday, March 25 and 26, at 7:30 pm with a matinee on Sunday, March 27, at 2:30 pm. It will be held in the J. Arthur France Auditorium at Cassadaga Valley Central School. The website to purchase tickets is showtix4u.com/event-details/60349. All ticket sales are online.
