Boys swimming and diving: Willmar opens with a loss to Apollo – West Central Tribune

ST. CLOUD — Kale Bockelman and Evan Wallestad each collected wins in the Willmar boys swimming and diving team’s season debut on Tuesday.

The Cardinals lost the Central Lakes Conference dual against host St. Cloud Apollo, 102-80.

Bockelman dominated the field in diving with a first-place score of 201.85.

Wallestad’s win came in the 100-yard backstroke. He hit the board at 1 minute, 6.27 seconds.

Willmar opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay. The quartet of Wallestad, David Lammers, Jacob Loerzel and Kadin Brabender finished in 1:54.97.

The Cardinals’ next meet is the Brainerd invitational scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 29.
