David Benavidez continues to constantly harass Saul “Canelo” Alvarezin the hopes to lure him into a fight and this time he attacked him for his words after the Gennady Golovkin bout.

Benavidez said that he knows he’s getting in Canelo’s head after the boxer mentioned him during his post fight press conference after the GGG fight.

“I know I’m getting in his head, he’s angry. I’ve earned my spot. I’ve been the WBC’s number one ranked fighter for the past four fights. I just want what was promised to me”, Benavidez told lalosboxing.

Canelo spoke about Benavidez following his GGG fight

After his Gennady Golovkin fight Saul “Canelo” Alvarez spoke about other Mexican fighters wanting to enter the ring with him.

During the press conference a reporter asked her if he didn’t want to face Mexican ascent fighters, after Canelo reportedly isn’t interested in fighting Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez just for his nationality, an issue Canelo addressed.

“Why do you think that I don’t want to fight a Mexican fighter or Benavidez? I hear his father (Jose Benavidez) talk a lot of sh*t, but lets see, he hasn’t done anything. Just one champion ( he’s won against), Anthony Dirrell. Please don’t disrespect him”, Canelo assured.

Benavidez might have been promised a fight with Canelo

David Benavidez says he doesn’t know who his next rival but says that Mauricio Sulaiman, the WBC president, told him that Canelo could be ordered to face him by the organization in the near future.

“They said that if I win this WBC preliminary fight, you’ll fight Canelo soon. I had two of those fights, then they said win the interim belt of the WBC and you’ll fight against Canelo. Why do we have a ranking system then?”, Benavidez said.

Canelo will undergo surgery to fix his left hand and said his return to the ring could be between May and September of next year.
