Bayern want Liverpool’s Mane | Agent meets club’s sporting director

Bayern Munich are interested in signing Liverpool forward Sadio Mane this summer, according to Sky Germany.

While there has been no official dialogue between the two clubs, Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic met the 30-year-old’s agent over the weekend.

The Senegal international is under contract until 2023, but talks over a possible new deal have been difficult and reports suggest Mane is unhappy Mohamed Salah’s contract talks have taken priority at Anfield.

Mane has made 47 appearances in all competitions for Jurgen Klopp’s side this term, scoring 21 goals.

The forward has previously been linked with a move away from Anfield, with speculation surrounding his Liverpool future sparking interest from Real Madrid prior to signing fresh terms on Merseyside back in November 2019.

After the 2-2 draw against Stuttgart on Sunday evening, Salihamidzic said when asked whether there would be a big-name transfer at Bayern: “Let yourself be surprised.

“We have to see what is possible and what is not. We have creative ideas.”

Liverpool, who currently sit three points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City, have declined to comment.

Klopp not sure new deal will impact Salah and Mane’s contract decisions

Klopp believes his new Liverpool deal won’t be a “decisive” factor on whether Mane and Salah will commit their long-term futures to the club.

He signed a new two-year extension to his contract at Anfield last Thursday which was due to expire in 2024, but with the German now staying until 2026, will his Liverpool players be convinced to sign too?

“That is more a question for the boys, what it exactly means for them but all fine, my relationship with them is great,” he said.

“My point is in life there are more important things to think about, not only who is the manager but knowing who the manager and coaching staff is is an important thing because when you know what you have with other clubs where you could go, you don’t know exactly.

“There is no 100 per cent in this business but I think it is pretty likely I will stay for a little bit longer because other coaches are there at other clubs.

“If it is a positive sign for the boys, great, but I don’t think this will be the one decisive thing for whatever decision they want to make.

“It is their own life but we just wanted to guarantee that everyone who wants to be here knows what he can expect.”
